Resumen

ROSERO MARTINEZ, Carlos Gilberto; IBUJES BURBANO, Cristian Andrés  y  LAGUNA DELGADO, Karina Nataly. Universities for integral rehabilitation in prisons: reductionist approaches. Conrado [online]. 2023, vol.19, n.95, pp. 125-133.  Epub 10-Dic-2023. ISSN 1990-8644.

Prisons are a reflection of the society in which they are inserted, evidencing the social inequalities and conflicts that characterize it. Far from considering prisons as mere places of confinement for dangerous individuals, it is essential to understand the dangers that are present even within these institutions. Therefore, the study aims to analyze the role of universities in the comprehensive rehabilitation process in prisons and their contribution to overcome reductionist approaches in the prison system. For this, a qualitative approach was used, with a cross-sectional design to analyze the relevance of the paradigm of complexity in the prison system. Among the results, it is seen that academic institutions are positioned as key actors to address the challenges present in prison systems and promote an effective and holistic rehabilitation of inmates. In conclusion, the understanding of prisons as complex spaces, where inequalities and social conflicts are manifested, invites us to adopt a comprehensive and multidimensional vision in the search for effective solutions with the collaboration of universities.
