INFANTE MIRANDA, María Elena; CARRERA VASQUEZ, Santiago Mateo y CRUZ ENRIQUEZ, Kevin Efraín. Fostering informed decisions: Evaluation of an educational program on sexual and reproductive rights. Conrado [online]. 2024, vol.20, suppl.1, pp. 156-164. Epub 20-Oct-2024. ISSN 1990-8644.
This study evaluates the effectiveness of the educational program "Informed Decisions: Sexual and Reproductive Rights" in training law students at the University of the Andes. The program, structured into four modules, employs participatory methodologies such as case studies, debates, and workshops to promote active learning about sexual and reproductive rights, legal frameworks, sexual health, and gender equity. The sample included professors, academics, students, sexual health experts, university administrators, and community members. Using both theoretical and empirical methods, key criteria such as content relevance, accessibility, teaching effectiveness, sustainability, and social impact were identified. Design alternatives were assessed, including delivery formats, teaching methodologies, and evaluation strategies. Results analyzed through the Criteria Importance through Correlation method show that teaching methodologies are the most important component, followed by delivery formats and evaluation strategies. A strong correlation exists between content relevance and teaching effectiveness. The study emphasizes the significance of teaching methodologies in educational programs on sexual and reproductive rights. Effective pedagogical approaches that encourage participation and meaningful learning are essential for empowering students to make informed and responsible decisions in their personal and professional lives.
