According to Félix Varela, at the end of first quarter Nineteen Century, Cuban society needed three social missions. First: Sustainable reasons to get a Cuba independent of Spain. Second: To create a country as a republican nation with a particular distinction: rationality such as a modern country. Third: As a result of the second, to raise, academically, instruction and education to obtain honorable and dignified citizens. These three purposes are located at the Félix Varela´s journalism and essays focus on Cuban independence. Finally, ethic is the real framework to understand Varela´s legacy.
