In the current Cuban context, the obtaining of food takes on a special meaning, which due to the existing economic problems that impacts in all sectors, is affected, among the products that are notable its absence in the market are citrus fruits, fruit trees and what about ornamental plants, in addition to herbaceous plants that are already conducting research in the country and that ultimately this path of vegetative multiplication contributes to the economy of the country and to the care of the environment one of the goals established in the country. The authors start from the knowledge of the inadequacies in the quality of the graduate of the specialty of agricultural of Pinar del Río and the level of dissatisfaction of the labor entities, where one of the causes is in the level of development of the skill by the teachers, An exploratory study is then carried out through the application of quantitative and qualitative methods to a sample of managers of the polytechnic center and the labor entity, teachers and students, with the aim of analyzing the behavior of the development of the skill, whose results point to the need to promote it both in woody and herbaceous plants, the latter do not appear in the model of the professional of the technician to be trained, but responds to the updating of science and technology and social need, it is important to raise awareness of the need and value of This skill on the part of the teachers.
