The current paradigm of exploiting materials construction in the province of Uige (Angola) does not obey the new internationally recognized trends and criteria about the sustainability of the mining extractive industry. The objective of this research was to establish theoretical budgets about sustainable development of mining by a bibliographic analysis and review of the main perspectives and trends on sustainability in mining activity. Previous research results regarding the sustainability indices of mining companies in Uige and their impact on the socio-economic development of mining communities were considered. Considering this fact, criteria for projecting a sustainable mining are exposed.
