GUERRERO-ALMEIDA, Diosdanis; HERNANDEZ-COLUMBIE, Teresa y FERNANDEZ-DAMIAO, Igor. Management mining of construction materials in Namibe (Angola): dump for Bibala quarry. Min. Geol. [online]. 2020, vol.36, n.2, pp. 204-217. Epub 30-Jun-2020. ISSN 1993-8012.
Present study deals with the ordering of mining activity in Namibe, Angolan province in the particular case of Bibala quarry from which stone dust, gravel, crushed stone and clays for construction are extracted. The purpose of the present study was to design and enable a dump for disposing the mining tillage waste with the purpose of ordering the disposal of waste and minimizing negative environmental impacts. Selecting the site for locating the dump was based on the value of quality index (Qe) obtained for two zones (A and B) located within the mining concession, which allowed selecting zone A as the suitable place, in accordance with the environmental, safety and risk requirements established for this region. The dump contributes to organize mining activity in the Bibala quarry by giving use to an underused area of concession itself, while reducing the negative environmental impact provoked by disorderly dumping of rubble and making transportation more efficient by shortening the distance of carrying the sterile.
