AGUILAR-PEDRAZA, Alfonso; ESPINOSA-RODRIGUEZ, Luis Miguel y ORDAZ-HERNANDEZ, Alexis. Geological heritage as social practice. Case study: Tlalpujahua- El Oro Mining District, Mexico. Min. Geol. [online]. 2021, vol.37, n.2, pp.181-200. Epub 30-Jun-2021. ISSN 1993-8012.
The purpose of this study was to determine the potentiality of Tlalpujahua-El Oro Mining District (Mexico) from the perspective of geoconservation and geoheritage in order to create a geopark. The methodology used consists on the resolution of four stages that include: an inventory (identifying, selecting and characterizing geosites); quantification (ranking and parameters in use); environmental impact, conservation proposal; and potential analysis. According to what previously said and based on the intrinsic values of use, the environmental impacts and protection needs, seven geosites that meet UNESCO’s selection parameters for creating a geopark are identified.
