Introduction:

To speak of quality of health care, it must first be defined. Quality of service is a basic strategy for framing organizational structure and functionality within parameters that take into account the expectations and needs of clients.

Objective:

To identify fundamental aspects of quality in health services.

Development:

The search for information related to the subject was carried out in the Infomed network and the databases CUMED, EBSCO Hots, Hinari, PubMed, SciELO, Medline, Medilatina and LILACS. The search was carried out in Spanish, English and Portuguese; the key words used were: services, quality of services and quality of health care. These terms were combined to optimize the searches. Health services must be safe and reliable. Objective and subjective components are manifested; technical, functional, human, physical environment, as well as process and result structure are combined. These must be evaluated by indicators. To achieve quality it is necessary to measure and control it. Conclusions:

Quality, quality control and excellence of services is the responsibility of everyone and especially of managers, it places the user at the center of attention.
