Introduction:
The development of scientific and technological innovations requires continuous training and improvement to enable public health managers to acquire knowledge and skills and to provide efficient health services.
Objective:
To describe the essential aspects of the self-perception of managers and reserves regarding their managerial skills.
Positioning:
A national and international literature review was carried out to determine the behaviour of managerial skills based on the self-perception of health managers. Given the current state of science and technological innovation, which demands continuous training and improvement from managers in order to obtain efficiency in health services.
Conclusions:
The essential aspects of self-perception were described, from the managerial foundations of cadres and reserves on their managerial skills that demand continuous training and improvement. Through the analysis of learning needs, the lack of preparation for administrative management and the lack of knowledge to diagnose the learning needs of their reserves were detected.
