HERRERA PUEBLA, Julián; GONZALEZ ROBAINA, Felicita  y  ZAMORA HERRERA, Elisa. Crops coefficients (Kc) in King Grass during different season in the years and different growth stages. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.1, pp.80-90. ISSN 2071-0054.

King Grass (Pennisetum sp) is a perennial grass(widely used in Cuba as fodder, with a cutting cycle of about 60 days, it mean that throughout the year, the grass has different growth cycles and also different water requirements' according with the age and the season of the year; in this conditions, an efficient use of the irrigation water need the knowledge of the water requirements variation's associated to this factors. In order to facilitate the water management, in the present work it were calculated the crops coefficients (Kc) by 10 days periods into every cutting for every 60 days cutting cycles throughout the year, taking into account the pasture growth curve and the daily water consumptions, which were related with the Class A pan evaporation values modified by 0,75 factor to convert it to reference evapotranspiration. The data were taking off from some experiments developed in the area of Niña Bonita at the Norwest of Havana province where they used different irrigation treatments. Daily water's consumptions varied between 1,5-2 mm/day in the first ten growth period after the grass cutting in dependence of the season of the year and between 3,5-5 mm/day at 50 day age., crops coefficients varied between 0,17-0,28 and 0,48- 1,27 in the first and last ten days  respectively, with the lower values in those cuts taking place during December-March and the highest values in August to November.

Palabras clave : Water requirements; irrigation; daily growth.
