Resumen

GARCIA LOPEZ, Aymara; CUN GONZALEZ, Reinaldo  y  MONTERO SAN JOSE, Lorenzo. Effect of day time on leaf water potential in sorghum and their relationship with soil humidity. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.3, pp.07-11. ISSN 2071-0054.

The present work evaluated the effect of the day time on measurement of leaf water potential in sorghum and its relationship with the soil volumetric humidity, during the cultivation of sorghum plants (bicolor Sorghum L. Moench var. White C-21). The measurement of leaf water potential was carried out for two treatments: irrigation and un-irrigated, for different day time and simultaneously it was monitored soil volumetric humidity. The results evidenced higher differences among between treatments for leaf water potential and soil volumetric humidity, when the measurement of plant water status was made between the 9:00 and 10:00 am. On the other hand, in this day time, it was found more closed relationship between both variables (r=0,869). It could indicate, that in this time it is feasible to estimate plant water status using of the hydraulic pressure chamber , which had been developed by the Irrigation and Drainage Research Institute.
