OROZCO, Eugenio; HERRERA, Isaac  y  MUJICA CERVANTES, Albi. Flow mathematical model of the alluvial valley aquifer system of ancient Guatemala, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2011, vol.20, n.2, pp. 75-79. ISSN 2071-0054.

The present study is a mathematical model of groundwater flow for the aquifer system present in the alluvial valley of the Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. In the valley they empHasize andesíticas rocks units and deposits of lapilli, sobrelain by alluviums mixed with sediments piroclastos. A potential recharge by precipitation of 50 millions m3/año is considered, representing a 24% of the precipitation in the zone. The tansmisivity of the aquifer system go from 50 to 300 m2/day for sediments superior and of 600 to more than 5 000 m2/day for fractured rocks. Coefficient of storage of 0.1 from Antigua Guatemala to Ciudad Vieja constituting a unconfined aquifer and from here to Alotenango, is leaky aquifer with a coefficient storage of 0,01. The generated mathematical model, is considered solely of applicability in the alluvial valley. In the calibration of the model in transient state, one has a mean error of 0,266 m. and an error of 2,36%: Therefore, the model can be useful to make projections of handling and future operation of the underground hydric resources of the zone.
