The production of rice (oryza sativa) in small-scale is included in the National Program Rice and it is implemented by the Cuban government to give answer to the high claim of the grain in the consumption of population; besides, it is also a way for the import substitution, an important task in the present moment of Cuban people. But there are several problems in the small-scale rice production; standing out the status of the agricultural machinery utilized in the post-harvest process. A high percent of the machines used in this production are constructed empirically by the small producers utilizing rest of combined rice with another pieces; furthermore, they carry through the construction taking, for example imported machines without designs scientifically based, bringing high losses in the process of post-harvest. Examining the previously exposed in the present work, the designing of a device to determine the forces of detachment of the grain from the panicle in the crop of rice is accomplished; taking in account studies carried out in the subject matter and characteristics for its easy construction at our country. Furthermore, the device is an important aspect for the study and the determination of the physical-mechanical properties of the pedicel-grain system in rice crop; enabling in this way, to establish scientifically well-founded designs in agricultural machinery, basically thresher machines, being possible to decrease the losses in the post-harvest process.
