Resumen

GARCIA HIDALGO, Yoandris; BALMASEDA ESPINOSA, Carlos  y  VARGAS RODRIGUEZ, Heriberto. Hydrochemical characterization of irrigation water of the Naranjo river watershed, municipality Majibacoa, province Las Tunas    . Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.3, pp. 29-34. ISSN 2071-0054.

The origin of the waters, the physique - chemical processes that affect them and their quality are part of the information that contributes to the hydrochemical characterization of the waters to make a better management of the hydric resources. Six sources of waters supply for irrigation were studied (three superficial and three ground), of the Naranjo river watershed in the province The Tunas, starting from their concentrations of anions and cationes, the pH and the electric conductivity. The classification of the waters was carried out following the Shchoukarev`s approaches and by means of the diagrams of Schoeller-Berkaloff and of Stiff the results were represented. The ground waters are more mineralized than the superficial ones, the ions that prevail are bicarbonate, chloride and sodium, with the result that the waters that prevail are HCO3-Cl-Na or Cl-HCO3-Na types. The studied waters are unsuitable for irrigation and they are a potential danger for the soil alkalinization.
