The effect of the coefficient of hydric stress (Kc) was studied on the yields of the onion cultivation, through an evapotranspiration (Etc) gradient that included conditions standard, (100% of the Etc, determined experimentally) and four levels of simulated reductions of the maximum Etc for the non standard conditions. The simulations were carried out with aid of the program CROPWAT 8.0 that incorporates the pattern Penman Montheith, modified by FAO. For each variant, the coefficient culture (Kc) were calculated, being the coefficients of global crop of the onion, 0,64; 0,57; 0,53; 0,51 and 0,45 and of hydric stress coefficients (Ks) were also determined (Ks) (1, 0,55; 0,45; 0,37 and 0,33) respectively; to evaluate their influence on the fresh yield, it was evaluated which oscillated between 18,7 and 13,1 kg/m2 in function of the relative variation of the evapotranspiration, with reductions until 68% of the production for the most extreme variant. The knowledge about the potentialities of the use of the water in different supply scenarios, they constitute the scientific bases to project about adaptation and mitigation for the onion fresh production, under conditions of drought.
