This study aims to validate a method for calculating maintenance indicators taken as a source of information to the control cards fuel and lubricants for tractors. The method used to calculate maintenance indicators useful work between failures, time to recovery of work capacity and the coefficient of availability. For validation, we used a sample of three tractors MTZ-892 and two MTZ -510, the observation period covered the years 2009 and 2010. Card information was collected monthly, Tractor useful work done, downtime due to failures, downtime for organizational reasons and number of failures and determined the mean monthly values of each of the indicators evaluated by tractor and the entirety of each of the samples. The information is organized and processed using Microsoft Excel, statisticians calculated arithmetic mean, standard deviation and coefficient of variation. Also, there was a Student t test for independent samples using the statistical package Statgraphics Plus 5.0 to evaluate the difference between the means.
