Resumen
FERNANDEZ VALDES, Dayvis et al. Experimental-numerical evaluation of the principal stresses in the crust of the fruit of the guava (psidiumguajava L) red dwarf variety. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.1, pp.60-67. ISSN 2071-0054.
Mechanical damages by static charges are major factors leading to fruits postharvest deterioration, as in the case of guava, as postharvest handling is done without fruit protection. To conduct a study of how guava behaves due to the application of compressive loads, experimental tests are performed using the Reflective Photo elasticity technique and the numerical method, through the Finite Element Method, in order to know how to build the principal stress field along with their determination. Among the results, we obtain the distribution of stress field .According to the compressive load applied to each guava fruit, and the value of principal stress that is acting in the area studied, showing similarity between the two methods.
