CERVANTES BEYRA, Rafael et al. Effect of the pulp of coffee (Coffea arábica l.) variety arábica on the chemical properties of three soils of Guamuhaya mountainous group. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.3, pp.17-21. ISSN 2071-0054.

The pulp of coffee (Coffea arábica L.) is a lignocelulosic vegetable residual that is obtained after humid benefit process and is emitted by the coffee industry to the soils and aquifer of the Guamuhaya mountainous group, for that reason it is the main polluting agent of this ecosystem. The integration of the product without affecting the fertility of the origin soils is the main premise to preserve the sustainable state of these fragile landscapes, to close its chemical-nutritional cycle and to conserve the technological-productive outline of the industry. On this basis, this work was carried out in the town of “ Aguacate “ located in the same mountainous group and the objective was to evaluate the effect of the application of pulp of Coffea arábica L. in rate 3:1 (25%) on chemical properties of different types of soils such as Alítico de Baja Actividad Arcillosa Rojo Amarillento ócrico (ABAAO), Pardo Sialítico ócrico (PSo) and Pardo Sialítico mullido (PSm)( according to their classification in Spanish). To fulfill the objective the general chemical tests and the relationship between the coefficients E465/E665 were carried out. The obtained results showed that the pulp of coffee released the mineral contained in its structure to the soils what increased the saturation and wealth of the changeable complex elements; and therefore, the improvement of their chemical properties.
