Abstract

MORALES TAMAYO, Yoandrys et al. Experimental analysis of surface roughness in the dry high-speed turning of AISI 316L stainless steel for agrifood industry. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.3, pp.54-59. ISSN 2071-0054.

The current experimental study is focused on investigating the effects of cutting parameters on surface roughness during dry high-speed finish turning of AISI 316L stainless steel using two cutting inserts. Cutting parameters were compared using analysis of variance and simple regression. As main results, the significant effect of cutting feed, the inserts and machining time, as well as their interactions on surface roughness were found. With GC1115 (1) insert the best performance was obtained at the cutting speed of 400 m•min-1 while for the insert GC2015 (2) it was at cutting speed of 450 m•min-1. The surface roughness showed the best performance at the cutting feed of 0,08 mm•r-1 at all the speeds used in the study.

Keywords : dry high-speed turning; surface roughness; AISI 316L stainless steel; analysis of variance and regression.
