Resumen

GAITAN, Alexander; FONTHAL, Gerardo  y  ARIZA-CALDERON, Hernando. Production and physical properties of agglomerates of Pennisetum purpureum schum, Philodendron longirrhizum and Muse acuminata. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2016, vol.25, n.1, pp.5-11. ISSN 2071-0054.

Agglomerates made from lignocellulosic particles from plants found in the region of Quindio - Colombia such as “guasca de plátano”,”tripeperro” and “pasto elefante”, were obtained and they were compared with wood commercial agglomerates purchased on the local market. These particles were mixed with a thermosetting resin, and pressed under temperature for a certain time and then allowed to cure at room temperature. At the conclusion of the manufacturing process and curing, the agglomerate was subjected to mechanical analysis of bending, tension, compression, hardness and water absorption according to ASTM standards for wood particleboard. The agglomerate was also subjected to thermography analysis in order to observe its thermal insulation. Results show that the agglomerates made by us, present better results than the commercial one regarding water absorption, thermal insulation and hardness and similar results in the mechanical tests of bending, tension and compression, except to the agglomerate of “tripeperro”.

Palabras clave : mechanical analysis; thermography; water absorption; board of lignocellulose particles; natural fibers agglomerates.
