PEREZ TORRES, Duniet et al. Energy study of the pumping system from the Institute of Animal Science, Cuba. Rev Cie Téc Agr [online]. 2016, vol.25, n.3, pp.65-71. ISSN 2071-0054.  http://dx.doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.15663.94886.

In order to perform an energy study of the pumping system from the Institute of Animal Science, a mapping and detection study of leaks in the main conductor was conducted, water leakages were measured in the interior networks and the percentage of losses was determined. At the same time, an energy study of the pump was carried out and the actual consumed power and motor efficiency were determined. Results showed that there are great losses of water regarding the total pumped water (1 400 m3), due to misuse (39.67%) or bad technical state of the networks (31.76 %).The energy study showed that annual electric consumption of the institution, regarding water supply, is 310 034.49 kW, which represents 67.6 tons equivalent to oil and annual expenses of 71 962.38 USD for the institution. It can be concluded that removing water losses, five pumping times will be avoided, which represents a saving of 51 405.31 USD per year, because there are 48.26 tons of oil that are not imported. In addition, 131.75 t of CO2 would not be released to the atmosphere

Palavras-chave : energy consumption; water saving; waste.
