This article summarizes the results of a research aimed at implementing the Six Sigma methodology as a maintenance strategy in the Massey Ferguson model 7252 combine, and from this implementation, to know the current sigma level of the belt transmission system, a mechanism whose failures, cause low readiness of the system and the machine. The content of the work shows the particularities of the six-sigma method. The results obtained after the implementation have allowed knowing the sigma value of the transmission system between two and three σ, which does not allow transmitting the power with quality, torque and revolutions that the internal combustion engine of the machine offers. The repair cycle for the transmission subsystem, composed of two technical services, was completed. These results are applicable in similar systems, where high levels of operational safety are required.

El presente artículo resume los resultados de una investigación dirigida a implementar la metodología de las Seis Sigmas como estrategia de mantenimiento en la cosechadora Massey Ferguson modelo 7252, y de esta implementación conocer el nivel sigma actual del sistema de transmisión por correa, mecanismo que posee fallas que provocan una baja disponibilidad del sistema y de la máquina. El contenido del trabajo expone las particularidades del método de las seis sigmas. Los resultados obtenidos luego de la implementación han permitido conocer que el valor sigma del sistema de transmisión se encuentra entre dos y tres σ, siendo el mismo un nivel que no permite transmitir con calidad la potencia, torque y revoluciones que ofrece el motor de combustión interna de la máquina. Se logró elaborar el ciclo de reparación para el subsistema de transmisión estando el mismo compuesto por dos servicios técnicos. Estos resultados son de aplicación en sistemas similares, donde se requieran altos índices de seguridad operativa.
