Improvement in organizational performance based on learning and innovation, demands information and knowledge management structured processes every time more. Starting from these guidelines, the following paper has as the main objective to describe the theoretical referents on knowledge management (KM) during its development and consolidation process, to analyze the evolution of the last editions of quality management systems norms (ISO 9000 series), regarding the inclusion of elements of management of information, knowledge, innovation and organizational learning. Finally, the paper presents as a proposal, an integrating model oriented to the management of operative knowledge and to the control of documented information at University research centers.
