Studies about Science, Technology, Innovation and Society (STS) constitute a significant working area within the framework of academic research due to its novelty and importance. Subjects related to science, technology and innovation are ever more relevant in defining and transforming human living conditions, therefore, they have become the focus of attention and interest of a greater number of sectors in society today. The aim of the present paper is to analyze the role of science in management audit, its implementation in Ecuadorian Public Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and its social impact starting from the presentation of the main theoretical aspects of relations between sciences, management audit and social function of Public Higher Education Institutions, taking into account its current situation.
