The work presents a characterization of the shrimp value chain in Cuba as a necessary step in the strategic planning of this productive activity in the country. Within the Cuban food industry, shrimp farming is one of the activities that has grown more in the last years, mainly in its productions destined to export, as a result of an organizational structure based on the domestic value chain. The cultivation of shrimp in Cuba has new productive and business management challenges. In order to assume them, it is necessary to implement a dynamic and a work methodology that guarantees the increase of its financial yields and a better insertion in the international market.
