During the decade from 2010 to 2020, trade relations between Colombia and Japan experienced significant growth. Japan became one of Colombia's main trading partners in Asia, and both countries signed several economic cooperation agreements to boost trade and investment. In 2010, trade between Colombia and Japan reached 1,300 million dollars, with a favorable balance for Colombia. During the following years, there was a steady increase in bilateral trade, reaching more than 20 million dollars in 2019 and the Economic Partnership Agreement between Colombia and Japan came into force, which promotes trade liberalization and investment facilitation between the two countries.
