SARDUY GONZALEZ, Mariuska y ZAMBRANO ZAMBRANO, Maria Inés. Education as a public good: higher education. Cofin [online]. 2025, vol.19, n.1 Epub 01-Ene-2025. ISSN 2073-6061.
Education is a fundamental factor in the progress of a society, its definition as a public good has been the essential principle of international discourse, as it is conceived as an individual right that corresponds to the obligations assumed by States. The idea that education should be financed and administered entirely by the State is no longer viable, considering the growth in demand, which leads to the need for help from the private sector. The criterion that education should be a continuous process places university or higher education in a debatable and questionable controversy. The objective of this research is to analyze education as a public good and within it higher education, considering the theoretical debate on the subject and the current trends towards privatization.
