Abstract

Background: the state exam is an objective evaluation that checks the achievement of the general and essential objectives of the contents imparted during the career in an interdisciplinary way with a bigger organization level and control of the results in the formation process. Objective: to value methodological aspects of the elaboration of the questions on Herbal and Folk Medicine in the state exams of the Medicine career. Methods: it was carried out an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional investigation, in the field of the teaching-learning process whose object of analysis was the state exam of 6th year of the Medicine career. The universe comprised the state exams applied from the academic year 1998-1999 on up to 2013-2014. For the development of the investigation theoretical, empiric methods and statistical procedures were used. Results: it was verified that deficiencies exist in the elaboration of the question on Herbal and Folk Medicine where the predominant questions are those that require reproductive short answers and they do not possess an integrating character with the rest of the contents to evaluate. Conclusions: the corresponding evaluation to the contents on Herbal and Folk Medicine in the state exam of the Medicine career presents difficulties in the elaboration of the questions which have an impact in the insufficient testing of the proposed objectives in the curricular strategy.
