BLANCO BALBEITO, Nubia; HERRERA SANTANA, Diana; MACHADO RODRIGUEZ, Rafael  y  CASTRO PEREZ, Gladis. Elective course in Researching Methodology for the development of researching skills in Medicine. EDUMECENTRO [online]. 2017, vol.9, n.1, pp.104-124. ISSN 2077-2874.

Background: the comprehensive training of medical students requires the development of researching skills throughout their training. Objective: to develop an elective course syllabus on Researching Methodology for students of the Medicine clinical cycle to develop their researching skills. Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional investigation was carried out at "Lidia Doce Sánchez" Medical Sciences university site from Sagua la Grande, during the 2015-2016 school year. Theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and modeling; and empirical ones: for determining the current level of development of the researching skills of students a questionnaire was applied. The results were processed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics and the Chi Square (X2) non-parametric test. Results: the development of researching skills in Medicine students was evaluated as fairly adequate, no statistical significance among the three years of the career was found, so an elective course syllabus to meet these deficiencies was developed. Conclusions: the proposal was rated as very appropriate by the expert group, the observations allowed the development of a more sophisticated version.
