Results: the formative process of the cardiologist was characterized with elements that support the relevance of the program and highlights the central position of the specialized professional activity from its curricular projection, supported by the number of hours dedicated to the formation of this activity, the use of teaching sites located in cardiological health services, and the use of the in-service training as a teaching form where the resident interacts with the patient to study its health disease process. Conclusions: elements that support the effectiveness of the curriculum in accordance with the social commitment were identified, due to their internal coherence and the components that support the core position of specialized professional activity in this training.
