Background: the nursing consultation allows solving the needs of basic attention through actions of health promotion, disease prevention and recovery and rehabilitation of the individual, the family and the community. Objective: to develop a training course to improve the nursing consultation in the doctor's office and the family nurse. Methods: a development research was carried out in the "Chiqui Gómez Lubián" university polyclinic, Santa Clara municipality, from January to April 2017. Methods of the theoretical level were applied: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and historical-logical; and empirical ones: documentary analysis and the survey in the form of a questionnaire for nurses. For the evaluation of the course the specialists´ criteria was used. Results: it was found that most of the nurses who work in the doctor´s office are bachelors of Nursing in the profession and only two are specialists in Community Nursing. A very significant percentage carried out independent actions related to the taking of vital signs to patients, nursing consultations were not planned and there was a significant number of dependent actions that generated dissatisfaction, among them the control records not established by the program of the doctor and family, which affected their professional performance, so a training course was developed to revitalize their knowledge. Conclusions: the course was assessed by specialists' criteria as adequate for its relevance, its scientific-methodological approach and its updating in the contents.
