Resumen

Background:

the evaluation of learning involves the control and assessment of knowledge, skills and habits.

Objective:

to show the results of the ordinary final exam in the subject General Pharmacology, after the application of the teaching guides.

Methods:

a cross-sectional descriptive research was carried out at Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences, in the academic year 2020-2021, we worked with the enrollment of the referred course and the results were compared with those of the 2019-2020 academic year. Theoretical, empirical, and mathematical methods were used.

Results:

with the use of the guides, promotion increased by 3.56%, a highly significant result. Ratings of 5 increased by 17.9% and ratings of 3 and 2 decreased by 9.4% and 3.6% respectively. Considering the content and type of questions, the topic Prescription and rational use of drugs, evaluated with a question such as completing the correct answer, improved the average of the grades by 0.59, followed by the content of the topics Receptor Theory and System autonomic nervous system, where this indicator increased by 0.39, all in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Conclusions:

the results in the ordinary final exam in General Pharmacology, after the use of the teaching guides, considerably improved promotion in the subject.
