Abstract

The article is an approach to the emergence and organization of intercultural bilingual education in Ecuador focusing on achievements, difficulties and challenges from an intercultural look. The study was completed by analyzing documents from a qualitative perspective. The findings provide collected data demonstrating the significant loss of ancestral languages in the country as an alert calling for the urgent need to improve this important type of education.
