Objective:
The paper aims at giving arguments to support, from the didactics of Mathematics, the students’ need to study the definition of functional limit so that they can appropriate the concept and its essential characteristics.
Methods:
The authors follow an action research approach and rely on analysis-synthesis, and documents reviewing.
Result:
The main finding is didactic proposal for engineering students to study the concept of limit.
Conclusions:
The didactic proposal sets the guidelines for teachers to lead the engineering students’ learning of the concept of limit. Several examples are included to illustrate teachers how to put the proposal into practice.
