Higher education institutions currently face several challenges related to improving the quality of the university processes they develop, especially those related to leading people. Modern leading systems applied in these institutions require, among other things, achieving the active inclusion of the human factor in such processes; since the commitment to meet the goals set by the institution rely mainly on people. This article aims at highlighting the importance of the human factor as a critical element of success in institutional management, as well as presenting some of the weaknesses around this challenge universities have.
