BRIONES KUSACTAY, Víctor Hugo. Retrospective analysis of technological change in agriculture, the model production and ecological economy. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.3, pp.126-132. ISSN 2218-3620.
We present a retrospective analysis about how the technological change has been a prime requirement and a decisive factor for the revitalization and development of agriculture in Latin America, bringing the acquisition of foreign technology in the present context, not necessarily adequate to regional conditions, as a consequence, and the export of agricultural products has turned these countries into technology investors and has developed in the region, the so-called process of "modernization", whose fundamental principle has been using technological inputs more than a building process of management technologies. Although there it is established that sustainable agricultural systems must maintain constant and natural capital, the selection of different agricultural technologies is still done through a simplified cost-benefit analysis, which tends to overestimate the profitability of some production systems and can encourage the degradation of natural capital that does not include the ecological costs generated by productive activity.
