Abstract

ZHIGUE LUNA, Aura Rosalía; SANMARTIN RAMON, Gladis Sara  and  ZHIGUE LUNA, Gabriela Elizabeth. ECOLOGICAL RESERVE ARENILLAS, A TOURIST POTENTIAL IN THE EL ORO PROVINCE. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.3, pp.135-140. ISSN 2218-3620.

This research was aimed to highlight the leading role in the conservation of biological diversity and the provision of environmental services and tourism potential of one of the most important protected areas in the province of El Oro, considered a national and world biological heritage, located at the southwest of Ecuador: the Arenillas Ecological Reserve. In addition to its tourist potential, considered a national and global ecological heritage, it is characterized by the protection of dry ecosystems, where there is wide variety of flora and fauna. The initiative emerges by a linking project which has enabled it to be visited. The methodology used allows an approach from the National Standards as the constitution of 2008 and the national Plan of Good Living.  They offer tourist strategies for the development of a country which allow from this space a sustainable state but without neglecting the benefits which nature has provided.  This is why the Ministries of Tourism and Environment contribute to this work with their reports and accountability which guarantee the veracity and relevance of their information.  The proposal is designed proposing a participation process among different stakeholders-sectors involved, strengthen the social network and increase the appreciation of cultural tradition to integrate them adequately with tourist activities and assumes as a priority the comprehensive conservation of the territory. The project is under the biocentric paradigm, of ethic approach, of responsibilities and values, where man still is dependent or interdependent of the environment where he lives in a sustainable manner.
