Abstract

CORREA ALVAREZ, Pascual Felipe; GONZALEZ GONZALEZ, Dargel  and  PACHECO ALEMAN, Justina Grey. RENEWABLE ENERGIES AND ENVIRONMENT: ITS LEGAL REGULATION IN ECUADOR. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.3, pp.179-183. ISSN 2218-3620.

Industrial and technological development which took place from the second half of the twentieth century has led to increasing exploitation of fossil fuels, particularly oil, a situation that is reflected in two fundamental issues: the threat of exhaustion earlier than expected of deposits and the exponential increase of environmental pollution, particularly by the emission of large amounts of greenhouse gases from industrial centers and large cities that concentrated high number of vehicles. Our planet requires solutions to preserve reserves of exhaustible natural resources and one of them is to replace energy production currently using non-renewable sources by those called inexhaustible or renewable sources. That is why it is urgent the implementation of legal regulations to regulate and implement policies that bring about the development of this type of energy, it must have the same inclusive character due to the interaction that possess it with the environment. To evaluate the legal dimension of renewable energies in Ecuador and its proper use is the objective of this work.

Keywords : Renewable energy; environment; legal regulation.
