In the environmental crisis in which the world is immersed, this paper analyzes how necessary it is to deepen in environmental education. Some aspects of Ecuadorian educational context are examined, specifically how they manage the subject in some high school textbooks. This article reflects on the role the subject History plays in regards to the damage to the environment, at different levels and contexts, as well as a proposal for creating programs of Environmental History for all levels of school in Ecuador.
