Resumo

The virtual community is a space in which many professionals do not show concern for a required systematic application, together with a critical and evaluative analysis regarding the use of this technology in the teaching-learning process. However, the term referred to is considered new, then in social networks it has been recognized the ways of using online collaboration, first by common user interests. It is essential to know its origins in order to defend the historical knowledge which allows highlighting the human being, who created the community itself directed toward virtualization of information, which today expands communication synchronously or asynchronously. This article is an initial result of the doctoral research topic approved and supported by the Tutorial Doctoral Program sponsored by the Center of Didactic Studies in Higher Education at the University of Cienfuegos, whose title is the use of virtual learning environment for teacher training.
