Due to its characteristics, tourist activity has become an important sphere of the economy as a source of income in foreign exchange that stimulates other activities of the national economy, however, in order to achieve these goals, a detailed knowledge of the conditions and expectations Tourist products and tourists, because the most significant challenge of this activity is to meet the demands of visitors and raise the revenues of the bidders. From the ideas presented in this paper, this relationship is analyzed from a specific case: Santa Elena province in Ecuador, which is identified as an important tourist destination at national and international level. The study focuses on the socio-demographic profile of tourists when considering that it is a necessary reference for decision making. The authors have considered it opportune to leave raised the orientation that should have the tourist activity from the characterization of its main recipients.
