This research is linked to the management of traditional knowledge that is increasingly becoming an object of work and an existential need of teaching and scientific institutions, however, it is not always possible to do it in a productive and efficient way. Hence the urgency of taking measures to ensure the viability and management of traditional knowledge from the substantive processes of the university, training, extension and research, taking into account that the university is one of the key links for local and community development, from the university management of scientific and traditional knowledge, and in turn the demystification of science, scientific knowledge and traditional knowledge. The present work pursues from a vision of the university management of the science and the technology for the innovation, to identify the particularities of the management of the traditional knowledge in coastal communities, to argue the contributions of the traditional knowledge of the communities and at the same time to socialize the experiences obtained in two communities Castillo de Jagua-Perché and Las Minas as case studies.
