Abstract

The open access to the knowledge is a movement that claims more the diffusion and reutilization of the free knowledge in Internet. Their strategies consolidate, like an alternative of the universities to promote the visibility of their scientific production and to increase the impact of their contents. The University of Cienfuegos develops a significant scientific and investigative activity by means of the execution of investigation projects, innovation, graduate degree and extension, in areas of the knowledge that give answer to problems of the socioeconomic development of the country. It carried out an analysis of the current state of the visibility of the science in the University of Cienfuegos starting from their presence as institution in the Web, and taking as relating strategies of development of open access carried out in other universities of the country. A descriptive investigation is presented, of qualitative perspective. The interview, the observation and the documental analysis are used as techniques for the collection of data. The scientific-social value of the study resides in the identification of deficiencies in the visibility of the results of the scientific production of the university and they intend actions of improvement in correspondence with the access open movement to the knowledge.
