Abstract

The investigative displacements on the communication of the patrimony, allow analyzing the different contexts and dynamics within a study agenda, and their dialogues with other disciplines and knowledge that take as a reference, the patrimony resource of Cienfuegos. In Cuba, dissimilar studies have been carried out on the features and behaviors of communication research. However, this study emphasizes the research on heritage communication produced at the University of Cienfuegos between 2002 and 2018 in order to identify its theoreticalmethodological characteristics and the production context. In addition, it provides researched topics, institutions, transformation scenarios, disciplinary approaches, types of studies, scientific production leaders, among other aspects. For the fulfillment of the objectives, the bibliographic and documentary review, the in-depth interviews with experts, the qualitative content analysis and the metric analysis were used as methods and techniques. All in all, although an ascending behavior of the scientific productivity in the communication of the patrimony in the analyzed period is observed, an evident dispersion, fragmentation and a lack of holistic and interdisciplinary character of the investigations are also detected.
