TURPO GEBERA, Osbaldo y GUTIERREZ GALA, Zayuri. Racism in peruvian television: What messages do comedy programs transmit?. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.4, pp. 184-192. Epub 02-Sep-2019. ISSN 2218-3620.
In Peru, people and organizations question television comedy programs, due to their racist content. This study investigates the racist manifestations that they present, as well as the differences between two series chosen for their popularity. In that intention and following a descriptive-comparative design, the levels of racism manifested in an incidental sample of 18 editions (9 per program) were quantitatively analyzed, equivalent to two months of diffusion. A content analysis form was used to show that both programs present subtle, denigrating and discriminatory racist content. These contents are presented without a significant difference between the two. Likewise, the predominant stereotypes refer to the physical, language and social class.
