The work presented is a framework of theoretical thinking about the importance of the science-technology-society approach in the university teaching, especially in the academic postgraduate programs. It started from the evaluation of the work experience of the authors in the reference area, in the results of the research about, and in the activities that have been carried out in the Metropolitan University of Ecuador related to the field. The article starts in the reflection on the meaning of science and technology for education and professional university level: describes the state in which the area of study is located in our university and the conditions that enable its development, based on its nature discipline and the general proposal of an academic training program in the area for the context that is being analyzed.
