QUINDE ROSALES, Victor; BUCARAM LEVERONE, Martha; SALDANA VARGAS, Michelle y MARTINEZ MURILLO, Carlos. Multidimensional poverty index and its relationship with Ecuadorian public spending. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.2, pp. 430-436. Epub 02-Abr-2020. ISSN 2218-3620.
This article is an inductive argumentation and an empirical-analytical paradigm to assess the relationship between the Multidimensional Poverty Index - IPM and the Public Expenditure of Ecuador which is considered a developing country in a period of time from 2009 to 2017. It was carried out a descriptive statistics study to measure the relationship of variables with the Pearson correlation matrix. The results show that the design of the indicator is based on evaluating the unmet basic needs of the population that for the case of Ecuador are promulgated as assigned rights within the country's constitution. The period of analysis describes a decrease in the indicator in favor of the elimination of multidimensional poverty. Moreover, the Ecuadorian public spending was increased in 100% of its assigned values. To sum up, there is a strong inverse relationship between the variables under study.
