RODRIGUEZ GONZALEZ, Ramón et al. A multicriteria approach in the medicines inventory planning. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.5, pp.152-164. Epub 02-Oct-2020. ISSN 2218-3620.
The medicines multicriteria classification allows the organization to carry out a series of actions which contribute to the satisfaction of the patients’ needs, minimizing inventory costs, and to their effective planning and control; thus supporting the achievement of the organization objectives. That is the reason for which a classification of the inventory of medicines in a pharmaceutical enterprise is proposed, by using three methods, the multicriteria ABC classification, the risk in supply-use value matrix, and the gross profit from sales-average age of inventory matrix. Quantitative and qualitative criteria were used to develop these methods; the first ones were used for measuring their economic impact on the organization, and the second ones were used for the assessment of medicines from a logistic and medical points of view. The criteria selected were studied in 487 medicines, considering a period of five years. The pharmaceuticals were classified according the three methods selected and a series of strategic actions were proposed by considering the interrelation of the three methods applied, in order to improve their management.
