Innovation in Biotechnology and the Pharmaceutical Industry in Cuba between 2000 and 2020 has been characterized by the intensive use of knowledge, to convert the results of science into products with high added value, generating exportable products and intangibles with significant impact in the economy and health. This process is based on the training and development of human potential with emphasis on the categorization of researchers and Specialists in Advanced Technologies, in High Technology Processes, Biotechnologists, and Innovative Technicians, certifying the first three High Technology Companies in the country. The agreements of the Economic and Social Policy Guidelines of the Party, the Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030, the Constitution and the new Policies in Science, Technology and Innovation, require extension to all territories and sectors that demand products, processes and services of high added value, of processes of recruitment, improvement and development of human potential relying on the processes of technological categorization. The formation of a scientific and innovative culture from an early age is essential, which develops professionals capable of applying Science, Technology and Innovation based on the prosperous and sustainable development of the nation.
