PACHECO SILVA, Mónica Gioconda; NAVARRETE RAMIREZ, Rita Amada; TAMAYO MERO, Alexandra Isabel  y  GUZMAN RUGEL, Martha Beatriz. Impact of constructivism on the literacy skills of high school students. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.5, pp.297-306.  Epub 02-Oct-2021. ISSN 2218-3620.

The empirical evidence prepared before the creation of this article suggests that high school students from a school in the city of Guayaquil have a low level of literacy, this information paved the way for the doctoral study of the main author of this document. The article aims to demonstrate the improvement of literacy after the use of strategies designed with a constructivist approach. The application of the pedagogical model was pre-evaluated for the 76 students and then their changes in reading and writing results were measured. An instrument of 23 items was applied to assess the results of the model and a survey with 9 items to collect impressions and it was found that constructivism impacted 89% of the students in their literacy skills. The conclusion was that the model is validated by the students and it was recommended that teachers should be encouraged to use the same method to reinforce the literacy level.

Palabras clave : Literacy competence; literacy technological innovation; constructivist approach.
